ART drug users appeal

People living with HIV/AIDS have appealed to all concerned to raise the issue of antiretroviral therapy (ART) drug shortage in the ongoing Assembly session to help in resolving the issue.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Keishampat today, patients who are taking ART drugs have sought the immediate attention in the abnormality of distribution of ART drugs in designated centres.
They claimed that they are given medicines with different compositions which they used to have earlier, administering 1st line medicines to 2nd line patients and so on.
Stating that they need to follow a strict regimen when it comes to use of ART drugs, the patients have expressed that concern if such abnormality in administering of medicines continues, then it will put their lives in danger.
The shortage of ART drugs have impacted the lives of thousands of ART drug users in the State, they stated.
In view of the difficulties faced by the ART drug users, they sought the immediate attention of the Chief Minister and Health Minister to solve the issue at the earliest to ensure that there is adequate stock of ART drugs in the State.
