CDC, YWC-P extend winning runs in 6th MNCA Plate Tournament

CDC-Sagolband Salam Leikai and YWC-Patsoi extended their winning runs to three and two respectively in the 6th MNCA Plate Tournament being organised by the Manipur Cricket Association.
Having sealed big wins against NAPSA and OSCAR for two straight Group A victories, CDC kept their form intact to earn their third win with a 88-run thrashing of UCC, Uripok here at Langthabal Public Ground today as Mutum Jodiba shone with a five wicket haul.
Opting to bat first, CDC stood a pressure to post a total of 203 runs for 9 in 40 overs thanks to Thounaojam Rakesh's knock of 65-ball 46 and significant contributions from Priyojit Narengbam (38), Md Ataur Rahaman (17), Kshetrimayum Robert (17) and Rajkumar Robindro (19 not out).
Konsam Gulson (3/41) was the pick of UCC bowlers as Shyam Kumar Ray (2/29), Thokchom Yoihenba (2/36) finished with two wickets apiece.
In reply, UCC were greatly demoralised with Khursid Alam removing the top two batters within 7 over before Mutum Jodiba trapped three batters on lbw successively to reduce their rivals to 50 for 5 in 13.1 overs.
Asif then undone Durgesh Sharma for the 6th wicket at the end of 15th over before Jodiba struck two wickets again to complete his five-for (5 for 15 in 8 overs) and set up the UCC collapse at 115 in 36.3 overs.
Jodiba eventually walked away with the man of the match accolade.
Elsewhere at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, YWC-Patsoi extended their Group B winning run beating RRCC, Churachandpur by 55 runs thanks to Laikhuram Jagat's impeccable all round performance.
YWC posted 172 runs for 9 in 40 overs as Laikhuram Jagat hit a half century (76 off 113 balls, 6 fours and 1 six) followed by Thoungamba M (24 off 41 balls) and Nickel Loukrakpam (16 not out).
RRCC's Sahil Kumar (2/ 35), Haojlen Kipgen (2/92) and Pankaj Hazarika (2/23) shared a wicket each as in this innings as Thangkhopao and Ningthoujam Shyamsunder managed a wicket each.
In the chase, RRCC succumbed at 117 in 29.4 overs despite Haojalen Kipgen's fighting knock of 43 runs as Laikhuram Jagat of the Patsoi side ran through their batting line up to finish with the best bowling figures of 5 for 22 in 7.4 overs and Ashishkumar Singh Wakongthem snapped three wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs to add teeth to YWC-P's bowling attack.
Laikhuram Jagat Singh was eventually named man of the match.
YAC, Yaiskul will play KIYC in the next Group B league match tomorrow at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
