Bus service providers demand removal of transport officials

Passenger Bus Service associations have demanded the authority concerned to remove the joint director and inspector of Transport Department from their posts, failing which the passenger bus service providers will go on a steering off strike from August 5 onwards.
Speaking to newspersons at Keishampat Churachandpur Parking here on Tuesday, United Bus Owners' Welfare Association, Manipur general secretary B Dhanabir Sharma informed that while the passenger bus.
service providers were in the midst of requesting the Chief Minister, Transport minister, commissioner (Transport) and director (Transport) for redressing the inconveniences faced in processing documents in the Transport Department, a team of MST staff led by the joint director and an inspector of the Department visited every bus parking and seized two buses till date for not possessing proper documents.
Condemning the seizure, Dhanabir demanded the authority concerned to remove the joint director and the inspector from their respective posts by August 4, failing which all passenger bus service providers will launch a cease steering protest from August 5 onwards.
Mentioning the inconveniences faced by the passenger bus service providers, the general secretary said that the Transport Department is unable to provide the fitness, pollution and other relevant certificates in time.
He then urged the government to waive off the taxes for the Covid-19 pandemic period when the buses were not in service.
