Imphal, August 02 2022:
Champu Khangpok Floating Village Welfare Committee has claimed that a large sum allocated for the developmental activities of the village has been misappropriated by PMAGY Village Convergent Committee.
The above claim was made by Oinam Rajen, advisor of Champu Khangpok Floating Village Welfare Committee while speaking to media persons during a press meet held today at Indigenous Perspectives located at Chingmeirong.
He went on to inform that under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) scheme, a large sum was sanctioned in 2019-20 for the developmental activities of the Champu Khangpok floating village which is in Bishnupur district.
However the allocated funds were never used for any of the developmental activities in the village and it has been misappropriated by the PMAGY Convergence Committee without taking up any work, he alleged.
Expressing serious concern over the matter, he urged the authorities concerned to probe the matter and take up strict actions against the alleged perpetrators at the earliest.
He further stated that there is a report that the PMAGY village convergent committee had misused Rs 12,32,000 out of the total Rs 20 lakhs which was sanctioned through PHED, PWD, MSPDCL, CMO (Bishnupur) and IT (Bishnupur) sanctioned by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India.
The villagers got the above report when they filed an RTI regarding the utilisation of the allocated funds, he added.
Rajen also maintained that Champu Khangpok floating village is still in a backward state lacking basic amenities and infrastructural developments and the villagers have not received their due benefits of the various welfare schemes of the Government.
Lastly he sought the attention of the Government to take up measures to ensure that the issue is investigated thoroughly and to award befitting punishments to the culprits.
Regarding the matter, a written complaint has been submitted to Office in-charge Anti corruption Cell, Chief Minister's Office, he added.
