Other bodies back ATSUM call for bandh

Even as the Sadar Hills Chief Association (SAHILCA), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) and Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) have endorsed the 24 hours being called by All-Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) from 6 pm of August 3, the Joint Tribe Student Association (JTSA) has stated that calling shut down in such difficult situations at hill districts is not encouraging.
In a statement, JTSA said that they, however, support the demand being made by ATSUM to table the HAC recommended ADC Bill 2021 in the second session of the Assembly.
The JTSA also urged all the tribal MLAs to resign on moral ground if they couldn't deliver the aspirations of the tribal people.
JTSA said that the whole stretch of NH-37, including the Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar road) and all shops, business establishments and Government offices in Tamenglong and Noney will remain open as usual to everyone.
Works of all National projects in Tamenglong and Noney will also continue in full swing during the period of the bandh, it said and appealed to all student bodies and village authorities concerned to make sure there is no hindrance in traffic movement along NH-37 .
Meanwhile, Sadar Hills Chief Association (SAHILCA), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) and Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) have extended their support to the bandh being called at hill districts from 6 pm of August 3 .
According to a press statement issued by TKS , the body will support other agitations of ATSUM to ensure HAC recommended "The Manipur (Hill Areas) ADC Bill 2021" is tabled in the 2nd session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The Sadar Hills Chiefs Association (SAHILCA) too expressed its endorsement to ATSUM agitations demanding tabling of HAC Bill, 2021 in the current session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The NSUC, on the other hand, appealed to the people of Chandel to support the bandh in the interest of all tribal communities.
