Kakching, August 02 2022:
Mayanglambam Rameshwar, MLA Kakching, joined sanitary workers employed under Kakching Municipal Council in cleaning Kakching Keithel today after the concerned parties arrived at a resolution with regards to the workers' non-payment of wages.
It may be noted that sanitary workers had launched a cease work protest from July 21 but resumed their work from this morning after MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar and Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association reached a resolution after holding a talk.
Speaking on the sideline of the cleanliness effort, the MLA shared that he had a discussion with Kakching Municipal Council sanitary workers and Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association members yesterday night.
Thereafter, he contacted MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand and received assurance from the Minister about payment of their impaid compensation from June within the next few days.
The Minister also assured the MLA to extend the contract period of workers whose term had ended on May of this year for another 11 months.
After receiving these assurances, the sanitary workers called off their protest and went back to work this morning.
