Mayangkhang & T/Khullen area villages oppose re-organisation of Police jurisdiction

Seven villages under Mayangkhang and Tumuyon Khullen area have expressed their opposition to the re-organisation of jurisdiction carried out by the Police Department.
A joint meeting of Mayangkhang & T/Khullen area villages namely T/Khullen, Kazanga, M/Ningthoupham, Mayangkhang, Mayangkhang Khunou, Marenmi and Takaimei B held on August 31 at M/Ningthoupham Authority Hall reportedly resolved to oppose the step taken by the Police department to bring the villages under Kangpokpi Police jurisdiction.
It may be mentioned that Deputy Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur had earlier issued an order for re-organisation of Police jurisdiction so that, it is co-terminus with that of Revenue Jurisdiction within a particular district in respect of all the 16 districts in the State.
The joint meeting also resolved to be under Senapati Revenue District and fight the decision to bring these villages under Kangpokpi Police jurisdiction.
A 16 member JAC under the nomenclature, "Joint Action Committee of Mayangkhang-T/Khullen Area on District Boundary" was also constituted with YK Jeremiah as the convenor and T John as secretary.
The JAC informed that Mayangkhang and T/Khullen area have been a part of Senapati district since its creation.
"Mayangkhang & T/Khullen area is under Senapati District Headquarter Town Notified Area", added the JAC.
The JAC further cautioned that if the authorities concerned failed to consider the wishes of the people, it would be compelled to launch an intense form of agitation.
