Man from Myanmar convicted in drug case

The Special Court ND&PS Manipur has on Wednesday convicted the Myanmar National who was arrested along with 1,000 pieces of WY tablets on July 28, 2017 from Moreh and sent him to five years and 10 months rigorous imprisonment.
The Court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 to the convict.
Convict Ko Hete (35), s/o U Soe of Moiwa Debainging Myanmar who was lodged in Sajiwa Manipur Central Jail from 2017 onwards have been remanded to judicial custody after producing before the Court.
The trial of the case was on against the Myanmar National after the IO concerned submitted a charge sheet against him.
The Court, however, directed to set off the period in which the convict has stayed under police custody from the tenure of the imprisonment.
Reportedly, the convict is likely to be deported to his country as he had already gone through the sentence.
