Senapati, September 01 2022:
Seven villages under Mayangkhang and Tumuyon Khullen area have objected re-organisation of police jurisdiction.
The objection came after the Mayangkhang and T/Khullen area villages held a meeting at M/Ningthoupham Authority Hall on August 31 and declared their opposition to the move of the police department to bring the villages under Kangpokpi police jurisdiction.
Mention may be made that deputy secretary (home) had earlier issued an order for re-organisation of police jurisdiction so that.it is co- terminus with that of revenue jurisdiction within a particular district in respect of all the 16 districts in the state.
The joint meeting of T/Khullen, Ka-zanga, M/Ningthoupham, Mayangkhang, Mayangkhang Khunou, Marenmei and Takaimei B had reportedly resolved to remain under Senapati revenue district and also formed a 16 member JAC under the nomenclature "Joint Action Committee of Mayangkhang-T/Khullen Area on District Boundary" with YK Jeremiah as its convenor and T John as secretary.
It may be noted that Mayangkhang and T/Khullen area has been under the Senapati since the creation of the district.
The Mayangkhang and T/Khullen area is under Senapati town notified area and their representative has been a member of the town commissioner of Karong Senapati Town Committee to date.
The JAC warned that it would resort to intense democratic form of agitation in the event of ignoring its demand by the competent authority.
