Biren moots drone school

Chief Minister N Biren has expressed the need for opening a drone school in the State.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the valedictory function of a 3-days workshop on drone awareness training programme today at Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Mantripukhri campus.
The Chief Minister said that youth of the State and the region should take advantage of the presence of such prestigious institute in the State and study at the IIIT.
IIIT is here, he said urging youth of the State and the region to get admitted in the institute.
"As there is an IIIT in the State, our youth don't need to go to other States like Karnataka to study IT", Biren said.
Today's world is an IT world, the Chief Minister stressed, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put particular focus on the IT sector.
Today, people in the sector, who were once working outside have returned to the country and started working in the country, making the Nation one of the best in the IT Sector, he added.
The Chief Minister also expressed the need to open a drone school in the State.
As part of the valedictory function, certificates of participation were also distributed to the participants.
The workshop was participated by individuals from Indian Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, Police, and civil departments including Agriculture, Department of Information Technology, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Health etc.
The valedictory function was also attended by Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University Prof N Rajmuhon Singh, Director IIIT, Prof Dr.Krishnan Baskar, among others.
Later the Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of the IT-SEZ building at Mantripukhri.
