MR CO calls for cementing press-police bond

First Battalion Manipur Rifles commandant Dr S Ibomcha has called for creating a healthy relationship between the press and the police by helping one another.
The 8th anniversary of Police & Press Whatsapp group was held at 1st MR Banquet hall, here, on Sunday with the attendance of police and media persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr S Ibomcha recounted that Police & Press Whatsapp group was formed by Poknapham/The People's Chronicle reporter Sagolsem Bigyan on September 9, 2014 with the said group having total member of 174 police personnel and journalists.
The members included held reporters of most of the media houses of the state as well as national and international correspondents.
Police officers from ASI to ADGP are also In the group, he informed.
Stating that the group has been formed with an objective to create a healthy relationship and to help one another in times of emergency, the officer expressed confidence that the group members will strive to contribute towards strengthening the relationship between the two.
A two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to deceased Kan-gleipakki Meira reporter Yambem Priyojit, who was a member of the group.
