Orange Festival from Dec 17

A meeting chaired by chief minister N Biren on Monday at CM secretariat, here, decided to hold this year's Orange Festival for three days starting from December 17 and accordingly formed a festival organising committee.
It is learnt that the meeting decided to conduct this year's Orange Festival in a unique way as it is being held after a gap of two years due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting also discussed about enhancing orange production and marketing.
In view of numerous tour ism festivals being held in the state from time to time, the meeting also discussed about establishing tourist police.
The meeting also decided to conduct this year's Barak Festival on December 13, tentatively.
The Organising Committee comprising 17 members with CM Biren as chairman and director (tourism) as convener, also includes MLAs of Tamei, Nungba and Tamenglong ACs, chief secretary, additional chief secretary (forest environment-RD & PR), additional chief secretary (horti & soil conservation), additional chief secretary (planning and TA & H), principal secretary (power), commissioner (works), commissioner (tourism), secretary (PHED), DC Tamenglong, DC Noney, SP Tamenglong, SP Noney, DFO Tamenglong and DFO Noney as members.
