Demise of Prof Kshetri Bimola condoled

Many mourned the untimely demise of Manipur University political science department retired professor Kshetrimayum Bimola.
According to a release of Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur, a condolence meeting was held at its Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal office on Monday wherein those present observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed professor.
The meeting recalled the contributions made by the professor to the society, it added.
Department of Political Science, Manipur University also mourned the demise of Prof Bimola and convened a condolence meeting attended by faculty, students and non-teaching staff at the department.
A release issued by the department remembered here as a renowned intellectual of the state who worked for the development of the department since its inception.
No one can replace her in the department and at the university as well, it lamented, while sharing pain of the bereaved family.
Manipur University Working Women's Association (MUWWA) also convened a condolence meeting presided over by MU VC Prof N Lokendra at Manipur University Women's Facility Centre.
Prof Kshetrimayum Bimola was not only the founding president of the association, but also among the first women professors of the university.
She was also the first woman dean, the association recalled, while stating that the demise of Prof Bimola will be a huge loss for the state and academic community in particular.
A two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul, it added.
