Imphal, November 07 2022:
Protest continued to be organised in the state against government's liquor policy with Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) Imphal West District Committee, All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) and Hiyangthang Maning Leikai Meira Paibi jointly staging a sit-in protest at Hiyangthang Maning Leikai on Monday.
In a release, CADA information & publicity secretary Khundongbam Anand stated that the protestors held placards and shouted slogans against state government's decision to legalise liquor production and sale in some parts of the state.
One of the protestors, meira paibi activist Heisnam Tamna asserted that consumption of liquor has led to rise in domestic violence and thus destroyed many households in the state.
It was due to the menace of liquor abuse in the past that meira paibi activism began.
Hence, meira paibi activists will never accept the government's order and it must be revoked for the betterment of the state, she added.
