NE People Parliament deferred

The 1st Northeast Indigenous Peoples' Parliament which is scheduled to begin from tomorrow has been rescheduled on Dec 10 due to unavoidable circumstances.
This was stated by Wangkhem Saratchandra, president of Assam Meitei Apunba Lup during a media interaction at Khuman Lampak Kang Shang.
Speaking to the media persons, Saratchandra said that the 1st Northeast Indigenous Peoples' Parliament is being jointly organized by Coalition for Indigenes Rights Campaign (CIRCA), Manipur Assam Meitei Apunba Lup (AMAL) and Assam Samilita Mahasangha at Khuman Lampak Kang Shang.
The main purpose for organizing the Parliament is to discuss the myriads of problems and issues confronting the indigenous people and to delve on bringing a solution to the issues.
He further said that delegates from different parts of the North East are stuck at different places due to the 48 hours hill districts bandh called by the KSO to protest the unfortunate and inhuman act on members of one of the indigenous community of the State by personnel of 24 AR.
The organisers also respect the agitation and feel the sentiments of the community whose leaders were assaulted by the security forces, he said.
As a mark of respect to the agitation, a formal preparatory discussion session will be held from tomorrow onward for two days and the Parliament will commence from December 10, he said.
