'Discover the purposes of disability life', says Dr Satkhokai Chongloi

Advocating the deep purposes of disability life in the society, Dr Satkhokai Chongloi, General Secretary, Kuki Organization for Human Rights (KOHUR) motivated the people to discover the purposes, not only the problems in the life of disabled people in the society.
The KOHUR Secretary, who is also the Principal of RTC, Imphal was speaking at the "Day of Prayer for Disables" under the theme "The work of God should be made manifest in him (Disable people)" in association with the International Disabled Day observance at Kangpokpi Christian Church on Monday at Kangpokpi Town.
Dr Satkhokai Chongloi, who attended the occasion as Speaker pointed out that International year for Disabled persons has been observed after the United Nations in 1981 declared the Rights of Disabled persons.
He further said the UN also declared the years between 1982 and 1992 as "International Disable Decade".
He said that if people are aware of the rights of differently abled persons then there is nothing to discriminate them.
The programme was jointly organized by All Disable's Union Sadar Hills (ADUSH) and Manipur North Economic Development Association (MANEDA) and Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship (KTCF).
It was sponsored by Light for the World.
It is the first of its kind in the Churches history of Sadar Hills and Senapati where they dedicated a day for prayer for the differently abled persons in the society.
T Peter Rangnamei, Chief Functionary of MANEDA lauded the Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship in their enthusiasm to dedicate a day for prayer mainly for the differently abled persons particularly in Sadar Hills and Senapati district and the State as whole.
He also said that this occasion will be the turning point in the society to give equal flavor to differently abled persons in the society.
Rev Lalkhosei Chongloi, Pastor, Kangpokpi Gambih along with all Church leaders invoked blessing for the disabled people within the district and the Manipur as a whole.
Around 1200 people from various churches in the town participated in the occasion apart from MANEDA staffs and officials, ADUSH and SDPAM executives.
Students of Manipur Theological College, Kangpokpi, KIBC Choir, KCK Choir, KBC Choir, Male Voice, KBC and Male Voice KCC enthralled the crowd with their melodious hymns during the function.
MANEDA donated one canon digital camera and canon printer to the All Disable's Union Sadar Hills for office use.
Meanwhile, ADUSH submitted a memorandum to Dr Satkhokai Chongloi, who is also the General Secretary of KUMPI highlighting the various discrimination and hindrance faced by the disabled people in Kuki society and plead him to address at the earliest.
ADUSH also submitted a memorandum to Rev J Lunkim, Chairman, KTCF urging the town churches fellowship to dedicate the first Sunday of December every year for the differently abled persons as Prayer day.
