Reception for diasporas held

Mutuwa Museum and People's Awareness for National Advancement (PANA) organised a felicitation function for the Meiteis residing outside the State at the residence of one Thokchom Thoiba, Uripok, as part of Sajibu Ningol Chakkouba celebration today.
The event was attended by Meiteis from Myanmar, Bangladesh, Assam, Tripura and Jiribam.
PANA member Mutuwa Bahadur, during his speech at the occasion opined that the Meitei population residing in Myanmar and places outside the State will be able speak Manipuri language fluently if gathering like today's are held annually.
K Sundergopal Sharma from Myanmar urged the State Government and the people to help popularise Manipuri language and script among the Meitei population in Myanmar.
The Meitei community in Myanmar will keep up the Meitei traditions at its best, Sundergopal added.
AK Seram of Bangladesh said the Meitei community in Bangladesh have kept alive Manipuri language for the past 40 years.
The community has also been able to include Meitei Mayek teaching in few schools of the country.
The participants were presented with a small token on the occasion.
Uripok MLA N Nandakumar was also present at the event.
