CM Ibobi appeals for peace; says violence will not bring solution

Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Monday asserted that violence will not be able to bring any solution to protracted issues confronting the State.
He urged the people of Manipur to eschew violence so that the state can usher in an era of collective peace by not adopting narrow feelings.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the 21st death anniversary of former minister late Moirangthem Ibotombi in Heirok, Thoubal District.
Attending the function organised by Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Trust as the Chief Guest, Ibobi stated that the death anniversary observation is an opportune time to spread the message of love and peace.
"If the message of love and peace is spread in every nook and corner of the State, Manipur will surely tread on the path of development", said O Ibobi.

Indirectly referring to various set of demands made by communities, the Chief Minister asked them to ponder over the same and see if these demands had been democratically endorsed by the people they seek to represent.
He said listening to the voices of the people is important as people's voice represents the voice of God.
Talking on the relevance of non-violence, Ibobi stated that Mahatma Gandhi's message has already found resonance with the international community.
As a mark of paying obeisance to the great leader, Gandhi's birth anniversary has also been observed as the international day of non-violence, said Ibobi.
Attending the function as President, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam called on the people to reaffirm their commitment to peace, love and development.
"What is needed most in the present scenario of Manipur is to live in peace and unity", said Gaikhangam and appealed all to shun violence.
Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Trust President and son of late Moirangthem Ibotombi, Education Minister M Okendro stated that the observation was organised with an aim to end violence in Manipur so that the people can live in peace, love, unity and development.
Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs, Rajya Sabha MP Abdul Salam, Chief Secretary, GDP, various officials of civil and police department, representatives of local bodies, officials of education department, teachers and thousands of people also attended the function.
