All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) has reiterated its position on announcing the launching of democratic forms of agitations if the State Government fails to revoke the order on or before December 10 .
In a statement, ANSAM Assistant General Secretary James Inka stated that even though Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) has issued office curriculum on extended the option of Additional English up to the academic session 2016-2017, ANSAM continue its stand.
James said the issue is not about extending the option of Additional English to students whose mother tongues are not in the list of Modern Indian Languages (MIL) curriculum for one or two academic sessions.
The ANSAM is demanding for the right to permanently exercise the option of Additional English by all students whether their mother tongues are in the list of the Board's MIL curriculum, he said.
Therefore it is reiterated that democratic forms of protest will be resorted to as per the announced deadline should the State Government/Board of Secondary Education, Manipur adamantly deny the right to exercise option of Additional English on a permanent basis, James added.
It may be mention here that State Government has issued as Order no A/SC/6/V/76/pt-11 dated March 2013 which removes Additional English from the scheme of study at IX and X Standards under State Board.
The office memorandum of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) on December 4, 2015, which has informed that option of Additional English has been extended up to the academic session 2016-2017 to the students whose mother tongue are not in the list of MIL in the Board's curriculum.
