Don't welcome CM : UNC on Orange Fest

The United Naga Council (UNC) has appealed the people not to welcome Chief Minister and other Ministers or officials when they come for Orange Festival in Tamenglong district.
The UNC said on December 9 when the whole hill people will be lighting candles in their homesteads to honour those people killed in Churachandpur three months back to mark the 100th day of the incident the State Government is organising the Orange Festival.
The bodies are still in morgue.
The UNC said the Chief Minister should not disturb the peaceful atmosphere by coming to hold Orange Queen contest.
The UNC alleged that the whole show of Orange Festival organised by the State Government is nothing but to focus on organising beauty contest.
UNC rued that orange farmers are neglected.
Christmas traffic measures in Mizoram: Traffic rules will be enforced strictly in the capital as well as in all district headquarters before and during Christmas and New Year celebration as measure to ensure road safety, C Lalthanmawia, Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Aizawl district today said.
Interacting with media persons at his office chamber here, C Lalthanmawia called upon the media fraternity for their full cooperation in giving awareness about traffic rules and traffic maintenance to the public.
He said that traffic rules have been strictly enforced this December to avoid or reduce road accidents during Christmas and New Year celebration.
The cooperation of the media in sensitizing the people about traffic rules and road safety is crucial as they are an integral part of public servant which educate the people through their writing and information, he said.
