Two-day public dialogue begins

Imphal, December 07 2015:
A two-day public dialogue on "Present political scenario in Manipur" organised by the National Research Centre (NRC), Manipur commenced today at Kuki Inn, Imphal.
The inaugural programme was attended by Professor Mahendra, ex-Director, College Development Council, Haobam Sanajaoba, president, NRC, Manipur, Radhabinod Koijam, former Chief Minister of Manipur and Professor L Sadananda, Retd Principal, Manipur College as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Haobam Sanajaoba said that the public dialogue has been specifically organised to check fragmentation of Manipuri society based on ethnicity.

If such scenario persists any longer, it will be disastrous for all the communities of Manipur, added Sanajaoba.
Prof Mahendra said that long-term remedial measures for the present political system are required in order to integrate the people belonging to different ethnic groups of the State.
Radhabinod Koijam stated that good governance should prevail in society and people of various ethnic groups of Manipur should realize their own mistakes and learn to live together in peace.
Representatives of various civil society organisations participated in the political dialogue.
