Kangpokpi, December 07 2015:
The indefinite economic blockade imposed along the Trans Asian Highway No 1 by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Sadar Hills from midnight of December 2 has now been suspended from 8 pm of Sunday.
The CSOs decision to suspend the economic blockade came after the responsible contractor assured the CSOs Sadar Hills to begin the repair work along the highway during a meeting on Sunday at the MLA quarter of Kangpokpi A/C MLA Nemcha Kipgen in Imphal at around 12 noon.
CSOs Sadar Hills spokesperson Lamcha Chongloi affirmed the CSOs Sadar Hills decision to suspend the indefinite economic blockade along the highway from 8 pm Sunday stating that the contractor gave positive response and assured to begin execution of work along the highway at the earliest.
However, the spokesperson cautioned that the CSOs Sadar Hills will strictly monitors the maintenance of quality in the implementation of the work.
The CSOs also warned that if the work is not executed as assured and quality is not maintained while implementing the work, CSOs Sadar Hills will resort to extreme agitation again.
Accusing the authorities for neglecting the deplorable road condition of the Trans Asian Highway No 1 along Imphal-Dimapur road, CSOs Sadar Hills comprising Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, KSO Sadar Hills, TSA Sadar Hills, KWU Sadar Hills and other local civil bodies imposed the indefinite economic blockade along the highway since December 2 midnight.
The CSOs Sadar Hills even threatened to call an indefinite total bandh along the highway if the contractor and the concerned department failed to begin the work along the highway within a week.
