BKS presses for waiving GST from agricultural inputs

Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), Manipur Prant reportedly submitted a memorandum to chief minister N Biren on Monday urging for waiving of GST from all agricultural inputs.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, BKS Manipur general secretary Tele Dara Singh recalled that on December 19 last, a massive rally was taken out in Delhi during which a number of resolutions were adopted to initiate process for reflecting the resolutions in the parliament.
However, the resolutions were not discussed in the parliament following which a meeting of the GST Committee was convened from February 7 to 9 in Rajasthan where executives of all the state level committees were present.
He further informed that during the committee meeting it was resolved to submit memos to the chief ministers of the states concerned demanding removal of GST from all agriculture inputs.
As such, a memorandum was submitted to CM Bifen on Monday morning.
Dara Singh lamented that the agricultural sector has been given step motherly treatment while opining that waiving of GST from farm products and agricultural equipment will certainly help the food producers in a big way.
Just as reduction in the input cost for agriculture is important, doing away of GST on agricultural inputs will also help the farmers, he said.
Bharatiya Kisan Sangh president N Indubhusan, vice president Gonadhan and secretary A Kishan were also present during the press conference.
