Imphal, February 13 2023:
Reacting against the incident of opening firing at the residence of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president Hareshwar Goswami on February 11 night, volunteers and members of Yaiskul Block Congress Committee staged a sit-in demonstration at Wangkhei Puja Lampak on Monday.
Speaking at the sit-in protest organised by Yaiskul Block Congress Committee, its president Akham Bimolchandra strongly condemned the recent spate of attacks carried out by unknown people on Congress members and party's office followed by the latest incident of armed perpetrators targeting Harishwar's house on February 11.While recalling that the firing incident occurred around 11 pm, Bimolchandra said Harishwar's grand-daughter who was studying in her room and other members of the family escaped unhurt, but the young girl has been in a state of shock since then.
He also stated that Harish-war had not done anything in the past which could justify Saturday's attack.
Instead, he has been working in the interest of the people and the society.
While informing that an FIR has been lodged at the police station concerned, he appealed to the authority concerned to investigate into the matter at the earliest and take up necessary actions against the culprits.
He also stressed the need to review the existing rules regarding issuance of license guns in the state as the firearms had been misused on several occasions.
