Youth parliament held, Catch the Rain project launched

Kakching, February 13 2023:
Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Thoubal, NSS Units of Kakching Khunou College (KKC), and IQAC Cell KKC jointly organised Neighbourhood Youth Parliament at district level for Kakching district as an engagement of youth and awareness programme on India's G20 presidency, focussing on G20 & Y20 summit, Mission LiFE, International Year of Millets, along with launch of phase 3 of Catch the Rain Campaign at Sivananda Memorial Hall of the College on Monday.
The district youth parliament and launching of Catch the Rain project phase III of NYK Thoubal was attended by Kakching Khunou Municipal Council former councillor Kh Radhamani, KKC principal Dr P Mem-cha and NYK district youth officer, Thoubal Michael Thangminlien Mate as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The gathering of 150 youths and staff of KKC was engaged by two resource persons - KKC head of Zoology department N Mohendro and head of English department N Saratkumar.
N Mohendro spoke on the topic - Mission LiFE (lifestyle for Environment), and International Year of Millets 2023 while N Saratkumar elaborated on India's G20 Presidency, G20 summit in Manipur and Y20 Themes: Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation & 21st Century skills; Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a way of life; Peace Building and Reconciliation: Ushering in an era of No War; Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance; and Health, Wellbeing & Sports: Agenda for Youths.
This was followed by interaction with participants and speech from the dignitaries on various topics of G20 & Y20 Summit and salient features of 'Catch the Rain where it falls, when it falls' campaign.
Later, Dr P Memcha led the youths in taking a Water Pledge and officially launched the Catch the Rain project.
The event concluded with 'Athithi Devo Bhava' - a cultural programme showcasing unique culture of the district and rich heritage of the country.
Similarly, district level NYPs will be held for the districts of Tengnoupal, Thoubal, Chandel on the February 17, 18 and 20 respectively under NYK Chandel and Thoubal.
