AMCTA to wear black badges today

Responding to the call of All India Federation of University & College Teachers' Organisation (AIFUCTO), college teachers in Manipur under the banner of AMCTA will join the nation-wide black badge protest on Tuesday.
In a release, AMCTA general secretary Dr M Imocha Singh informed that members of the Association as the unit of AIFUCTO will work wearing black badges on Tuesday to show solidarity with the teachers' fraternity of the country.
Some of the main demands of the teachers are resumption of dialogue with stakeholders including AIFUCTO; extension of RC/OC for CAS promotion in colleges and universities up to December 31, 2022.Making PhD non mandatory for promotion under CAS; extension of MPhil & PhD advance increments according to UGC regulations; restoration of old pension scheme; implementation of uniform pension scheme for all retired university and college teachers; filling-up of all the vacancies of permanent teaching and non-teaching posts at the earliest; implementation of reservation policy for SC/ST/OBC/PWD scrupulously; abolition of NEET, CUET and other centralised tests that deny the concurrent role of the states in education and undermine the federal structure of constitution; maintain of healthy pupil-teachers ratio across the institution at all levels; extension of UGC scales of pay and service condition to all teachers of grant in aid institutions of all the states; hx 65 years as uniform age of retirement for all universities & colleges across the country; withdraw the decision of closure of Regional Centres of UGC; withdrawal of NEP 2020; and prohibit entry of foreign universities in the country are the other demands.
