Minister Rajen vows help to language enthusiasts

While stating that the state government is doing all it can to have Meetei Mayek script recognised as Manipuri script, Education minister S Rajen has assured that efforts will be made to allow anyone, especially language enthusiasts, learn the various recognised tribal languages/dialects of the state.
He made the statement as the chief guest on occasion of International Gita Jayanti Celebration and a one-day national seminar on the theme of 'Contemporary Relevance of Srimad Bhagavad Gita' at held at the Court Hall of Manipur University on Tuesday.
Rajen said that by recognising Meetei Mayek as Manipuri script, it would help in building a united mindset among the different communities of the state.
For this, talks are being held with relevant organisations and bodies.
He then expressed belief that the people would extend full support to this undertaking of the government.
Regarding the theme of the seminar, the minister remarked that Srimad Bhagavad Gita helps in guiding an individual to cultivate positive thoughts, carry out good deeds and be more socially-oriented.
He then hoped that the seminar will help in understanding Srimad Bhagavad Gita in detail so as to bring about a better society.
The seminar was also attended MU VC Prof Naorem Lokendra; Dean School of Humanities Prof N Aruna; Samskrita Promotion Foundation New Delhi director Dr Chandkiran and Samskrita Bharati Manipur Prant adhakshya S Videshwor Sharma.
