EDA celebrates advent Christmas, elects new office bearers

Eimi doctors under the aegis of Eimi Doctors' Association (EDA) celebrated advent Christmas during its annual get together at Classic Grande Hotel, Chingmeirong, Imphal on Wednesday.
Retired RIMS director Dr L Fimate attended the event as chief guest while Touch and Hope Foundation founder director Dr Chinkholal Thahgsing as president.
JNIMS Department of Pharmacology HoD Dr Valkung Valte and Churachandpur Doctors' Association president Dr Jamthianlal Valte were also present as guests of honour.
In his speech at the event, EDA president Dr Paokai Kipgen said that EDA is an autonomous and non-political body formed by Eimi doctors worldwide for the welfare of its members with three aims and objectives.
To build closer relationship amongst Eimi doctors, to help sharpen academic knowledge and skills of Eimi doctors through scientific sessions and to serve the Eimi people through various health activities are the three main aims and objectives of EDA, he added.
In his speech, professor Dr L Fimate said that the criteria for opening medical colleges in India has relaxed a little bit and this opportunity should be grabbed by the state.
He also motivated Eimi doctors to continue rendering their selfless service to the people and do something for the welfare of the society.
EDA general secretary Dr John Lupheng also highlighted activities taken up by EDA team during the period 2019-2021.The event also marked the election of new executive members of the Association for the term 2022-2024 with Dr Thangtinlal Lhoujem, Dr T Letkhohao Haokip and Dr Chongboi Doungel elected as president, general secretary and finance secretary respectively.
Dr Zamlienmang Hatzaw, Dr Harry Guite, Dr Genson Tombing, Dr Laldawm Hrangchal and Dr Marylyn Songate were elected as vice president, assistant secretary, information and publicity secretary, assistant information and publicity secretary and treasurer respectively.
The event also attended by Jajai Singsit and Christy Vunggoh and moderated by Dr Thanglamuang Neihsial and Dr Charissa Touthang saw presentations from children of Eimi doctors and exchange of advent Christmas gifts.
