The Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has directed the Chief Secretary, Special Secretary and Director General of Police to submit their action taken report regarding withdrawal/lifting or de-notification of the disturbed area status from Manipur.
In a statement issued today, Khaidem Mani, Chairperson, MHRC, said the Commission had recommended the Government of Manipur on August 2, 2021 to do the needful at the earliest for the withdrawal/lifting/de-notification of the 'disturbed area' status from Manipur.
However, the Commission has not received any form of response regarding the same from the Government or the competent authority till date.
Khaidem Mani added in the statement that as per provisions of Section 18(e) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, the respondents are required to furnish the action taken report or proposal to be taken thereon within a period of one month or the time provided by the Commission.
