Imphal, December 15 2021:
In continuation of its renewed protest demanding a formulation of comprehensive guidelines to check the entry of non locals, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) staged a sit-in protest at Hapta Golapati Mayai Leikai today.
As per a statement released today, the sit in protest was jointly organised by JCILPS, Muslim Council Manipur (MCM) and local clubs of Golapati.
Addressing the protestors at Golapati, BK Moirangcha, Convenor, JCILPS, remarked that Section 3 of ILPS regulation does not define who the permanent resident, or an indigenous person of the State are.
He also questioned why the provision from Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation which restricts non-natives to purchase land in Manipur has not been incorporated in the guidelines.
He urged the people to be more aware and see the inconsistencies in the ILPS regulations and appealed to the people to lend their support in saving the State.
