Restore PG courses in GP College: GPWCSU

GP Women's College Students' Union (GPWCSU) has vowed to ban the ongoing admission process for Dhanamanjuri University at GP Women's College and boycott classes if the authorities concerned do not restore the MA and MSc courses which were previously available in the college.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Dhanamanjuri University Vice Chancellor where the students staged a protest, GP Women's College Student Union games and sports secretary Mayanglambam Langlen stated that the GP Women's College, which is affiliated to Dhanamanjuri University has witnessed a steep decline in the seat capacity available for admission.

It may be noted that in 2020 GP Women's College had an overall seat capacity of 420 as follows-Economics - 30, Education - 30, English - 35, Geography 40, History - 30, Manipuri - 40, Political Science 35, Sociology - 30, Botany - 40, Chemistry-30, Home Science - 40 and Zoology - 40, she added.
The number of seats available for admission in MA and M Sc courses in the five colleges affiliated to Dhanamanjuri University has reduced dramatically from an overall 1,130 in 2020 to a mere 800 in the 2021-22 session, she continued.
She added that when the admission notice for the 2021-22 session was issued, GP Women's College Student Union submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of DMU demanding the restoration of MA and M Sc courses in the college, however, no positive response came from the VC.
It is at this juncture that the students' union with the cooperation of the students of GP Women's College launched this agitation urging the concerned authority to issue an order restoring the aforementioned courses in the college.
She remarked that if their demand is not heeded then the college will segregate from DMU and affiliates to the Manipur University instead.
She also spoke against the alleged excessive words used by the Registrar of DMU and demanded his (Registrar) .
The student protestors displayed various placards with messages such as "PG courses cannot be removed from GP College","DMU VC must resign", "Issue PG admission notice" and "Save Girls' College" among others.
