Imphal, December 15 2021:
Reacting strongly to BJP leaders trying to belittle government's ally NPP in public platforms during the saffron party's poll campaign, National People's Party (NPP) state unit vice-president and intending candidate in Wangoi assembly constituency Kh Loken has challenged BJP to publicly declare its stand to reject post poll alliance with NPP.
Attending a workers' conference for all polling stations of Wangoi assembly constituency held at his Yumnam Huidrom residence on Wednesday, Loken charged BJP of forgetting the role played by NPP in the formation of the BJP-led government in the state and attempting to belittle NPP by projecting the party as a parasite.
He then challenged BJP to reject post poll, alliance with NPP.
Some BJP leaders were heard saying that solutions to state issues should be consulted with Delhi but not Shillong, which is very unfortunate.
What matters in politics is to take up welfare initiatives for the public and bring solution to issues whether it comes from Delhi or Shillong.
The chief minister was also heard calling NPP president as a child from Shillong'.
In politics, there is no such thing as young or old.
The public need qualified and true leaders but not a social media hero, he remarked.
During a press conference on Tuesday, chief electoral officer of the state declared top six assembly constituencies where election expenditure is highest and Wangoi assembly constituency is one of them.
It was very unfortunate for the people of Wangoi AC.
It is the outcome of electing unqualified candidate and the muscle power of government leaders in the last by-election, he said while asking the people of his constituency if they would elect such candidate again and again.
Any true leader should work for the welfare of the future society but not to gain personal wealth, he said.
While questioning the motive behind the rampant job recruitment just before the election, Loken called the corruption free slogan of BJP as a spoof.
He also decried the chief minister for remaining silent over the assault of a civilian by Wangoi police.
