Liangmai body demands investigation

Imphal, August 28 2026:
The Liangmai Naga Chabon Phom has demanded an impartial and transparent inquiry into the use of excessive force by security forces which hurt four protesters at Namdilong on August 20 .
The protesters on August 20 were demanding justice for six Liangmai Naga men who were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, and found killed later.
The four hurt in the security forces' crackdown include a minor and the wife of one of the six Liangmai Naga men.
While appealing for justice for the six Liangmai Naga men, the Liangmai Naga Chabon Phom said that the Government must launch an impartial and transparent inquiry into the use of excessive force against protesters on August 20, and responsible personnel must be held accountable.
The Government must also ensure a credible and fair investigation into the killing of the six Liangmai men, and punish all the culprits involved.
