Khumbong bodies boycott census over NRC

Imphal, August 28 2026: The Imphal West Students' Club, Khumbong along with Meira Paibi Apunba has resolved to boycott all census-related activities in Khumbong area if the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is not implemented.

In a notice, the organisations informed all residents, volunteers and stakeholders of Khumbong about the resolution and sought cooperation to uphold the collective decision.

They said the decision was taken as a matter of collective concern regarding implementation of NRC and to safeguard the interests of indigenous people of the area.

The notice stated that the resolution will remain effective until further decision by the concerned organisations.
