MLA's residence attacked

Imphal, August 28 2026: A bomb attack was carried out at the residence of MLA Dr Sapam Ranjan, who is also the Government spokesman, at Konthoujam Mamang Leikai around 1.30 am today.

No one was injured in the explosion, which occurred on the western side of the MLA's residence.

A portion of the wall was damaged in the blast while the explosive is suspected to be a hand grenade.

Chief Minister Y Khemchand rushed to the site and took stock of the situation.

A sit-in protest was also staged near the MLA's residence to condemn the bomb attack.

Speaking to the media, Dr Ranjan condemned the attack and questioned what benefit such an act would bring.

He said he had recently visited Delhi to discuss the issues facing Manipur with the Central leadership.

The MLA said he had no enmity with anyone and also no organisation had made any monetary demand to him.
