Search ops likely to wrap up today

Relief & Disaster Management Minister Awangbow Newmai has stated that the rescue and search operations which have been going on at Marangching would be wrapped up tomorrow evening and it would be followed by a review meeting to decide further course of action.
He said this on Tuesday while monitoring the ongoing search operations at Marangching, Noney district.
No dead body was found today even though 56 bodies have been already recovered while five are still missing.
A review meeting was held at Noney DC Office conference room today on the search operations.
"We have decided to call off the search operation officially by tomorrow evening but the final decision will be taken after consultation with the Chief Minister tomorrow", Awangbow said.
He said that Government has put in concerted efforts in the rescue and search operations.
He also extended gratitude to the search teams, civil and voluntary organisations and the local villagers who are involved in the search operations for their relentless and tireless
efforts.
He also thanked the railway officials and the district administration for the donation given to the relief committee.
"I pray and wish that such calamity does not happen again in our area", he also added.
The village authority of Makhuam (Marangching) had also placed a charter of demands to the concerned State and railway authorities for compensation and other acts of charity.
The memorandum includes monetary compensation, suitable employment to the existing family members and creating a suitable dumping site to maintain ecological balance, amongst others.
Additional Chief Secretary MH Khan, DC Noney H Guite, SP Noney M Gopaldas, ADC Noney S Khapudang, Brigadiers of Assam Rifles, engineers from the Railways, SDRF, NDRF & CRPF officials were also present at the meeting.
