Imphal, July 28 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) general secretary (administration) Soibam Jiten has filed a complaint at City police station on Thursday requesting an FIR to be registered against BJYM Manipur president Manoharmayum Barish and 5 other members of BJP youth wing.
Speaking to newspersons after filing the complaint, Jiten recounted that a group led by BJYM president M Barish attacked Congress Bhawan around 10.52 am Thursday and also misbehaved with the security personnel tasked with guarding the party office.
It is fine for a citizen to express his/her opinions and thoughts in a democracy, but the act of the group led by the BJYM president of taking the law into their hands, is against the Constitution and highly condemnable.
Thus, a complaint was filed at City PS for registering an FIR against the accused people namely, BJYM president Manoharmayum Barish, Robert Oinam, Suraj Waikhom, Tomthin Moirangcha, Bimol Moirangthem and Dickson Gurumayum so as to take up necessary legal actions, the general secretary said.
He also cautioned that in case City police does not take up an FIR against the accused people within 24 hours, then MPCC will take the help of the judiciary.
MPCC spokesperson N Bhupenda said that it was unfortunate that the state police failed to show up and control such kind of unruly incident from happening in the heart of Imphal City.
The opposition party will take up this matter during Friday's Assembly sitting, he said, while also iterating that the party will approach the High Court and other relevant authorities if the FIR is not registered within 24 hours.
