BSNL bodies protest privatisation policy

Members of All Unions and Associations of BSNL (AUAB) Manipur on Thursday staged protest at BSNL Telephone Bhavan here to denounce the central government's policy to hand over 14,917 BSNL mobile towers and OFC to private companies under the National Monetization Pipeline Policy.
The AUAB member joined the protest by wearing black badge, raised slogans and demanded immediate launching of BSNL's 4G services.
In a release, AUAB co-convenor Rajendra Gopal Singh informed that the AUAB, Manipur Busmess Area is against the decision of the government as such the policy to entrust the task of maintaining towers and OFC to private firms will eventually reduce the BSNL to a nonentity.
The move will also mean that BSNL will have to pay money to the private for using its own towers and OFC, the co-convenor said and demanded that the government withdraw the policy to hand over the BSNL mobile towers and OFC to the private parties.
