Imported fishes to be tested: Minister

Fisheries minister H Dingo has informed that fishes brought from outside will be tested to check presence of chemicals particularly Formaldehyde at transit points like Mao and Jiribam gates along with stating that government has plan to construct fish market in every district.
Clarifying to Policy Cut motion raised on the Demand for grants of Fisheries department during Thursday's assembly session, minister Dingo said that the fish farmers are given loans under Kisan Credit Card and so far, 89 fish farmers had availed loan under the scheme.
A fish farmer could avail loan of Rs 2 lakh per hectare under the scheme, he said and informed that the government allows conversion of paddy field into fish farm under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and grants given to the beneficiaries for establishment of hatcheries, construction of ponds and setting up of bionoc units.
