State lad tops NEHU MSc Botany exam

Imphal, July 28 2022:
Manipuri lad Thounaojam Jackson has topped the M Sc (Botany) Final Exam-2022 of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong with First Class First position.
Mention may be made here Jackson had previously topped the BSc (Botany) Final examination with a First Class First position from St Edmund's College, Shillong.
Jackson did his schooling from Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur and passed the matriculation examination in first class/division.
He then studied at HRD School, Ghari and passed the HSE in first class, before pursuing his graduation at St Edmund's College wherein he was the topper of his batch.
Jackson is the son of Thounaojam Jotin and RK Nirupama.
He has two other siblings.
Jotin is a government employee and Nirupama a housewife.
Speaking to The People s Chronicle on the telephone, Jackson expressed his joy on topping the final examination, adding that it has given him further courage to pursue his dreams.
He also confided that he wants to do research on gene mutation of rice to ensure high yield while guaranteeing the existing nutritional levels.
He is also aiming to become a scientist and participate in the ongoing research on how to plant rice in salt water.
