State logs 35 new cases, highest in 35 days; 2 die

Imphal, January 04 2022:
The state on Tuesday reported 35 new positive cases of Covid-19, which is the highest in 35 days.
November 30 reported 36 fresh cases after which the daily cases started to decline from December onwards.
The 35 new cases were detected out of 2245 samples tested in the last 24 hours registering a daily positivity rate of 1.56 per cent compared to Monday's 1.12 per cent.
Government bulletins also reported two death cases on Tuesday which took the number of fatalities to 2006 .
One of the victim was a resident of Imphal East district and the other of Kangpokpi.
One had received first dose of the vaccine while the other was unvaccinated.
With only five persons discharged from JNIMS (1) and CCCs (4) in the last 24 hours, the active caseload rose to 257 out of which 32 (12.45 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on availability of beds in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, seven reported fresh Covid cases on Tuesday.
So far, the state has recorded 96,478 positive cases and 1632 fatalities since beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 90 new positive cases and 4 fatality.
The weekly number of new cases and fatalities have rose to 131 and 4 respectively.
According to official reports, 30 persons (20 male & 10 female) out of the 35 fresh cases are from among the general population and five are personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases at JNIMS (4) and other testing centres (31).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (9), Imphal West (8), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (3), Chandel (1) and Churachand-pur (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,878 (general population - 1,21,432 and CAPF personnel - 4,446) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,615 (general population - 1,19,186 and CAPF personnel - 4,429) and number of active cases is 257 (general population - 245 and CAPF personnel - 12).The recovery rate marginally dipped to 98.20 per cent against 98.22 per cent on Monday.
A total of 214 D-type and 64 B type Oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health facilities in the last 24 hours and 5443 vaccine doses administered in the same period, which took the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 13,28,018, including 9,94,368 fully vaccinated ones.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,189), Imphal East (27,979), Thoubal (9507), Churachandpur (10,196), Kangpokpi (2794), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9247), Senapati (2252), Ukhrul (3000), Kakching (6457), Chandel (2368), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1079), Jiribam (1029), Kamjong (957) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (673), Imphal East (480), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (63), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,567 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,964 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,72,636 tests per million population against the national average of 4,87,303 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2245 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.56 per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.58 per cent.
