Sport enables team work, inculcate discipline: Additional Chief Secretary

Additional Chief Secretary MH Khan (IAS) has said that sports meet is the medium to enable team work, inculcating discipline, integrity, accountability, to develop personality, good habit and feeling of brotherhood.
MH Khan made the remark while attending the inaugural function of 61st biennial sports meet organised by the Khumai (Tunggam) Youth and Students' Organisation (KYSO) and hostde by PCYSO on the theme 'Teamwork makes the dream work' that will conclude on January 7 .
He said through sports people get motivation, strength and positive spirit to do better for oneself, family, society and community.
Citing his life example, he challenged the youth to be committed and motivated to do something better to take higher in one's career.
He reminded the youths that without commitment, hard work and motivation cannot be achieved in life.
Khan advised the gathering to do proper planning for utilization of resources and extend support to the government in any developmental activity in the village.
He lauded the villagers' entrepreneurs for sporting the sport meet.
He assured to sanction improvement and approach road from the rural development through the district commissioner, to help village through self help groups in fruit processing, watershed project and scheme under multi sectoral development programme.
He informed the villagers that very soon an awareness programme on forest fire would be conducted in the village.
Guest of honour John Sha (MFS), divisional forest officer, in his address shared the benefits of sport where he stated that it gives good health, builds mutual trust, learns to cooperate with one another, teaches to take instant decisions, to accept failure and respect each other.
Also citing more benefits of sports, DFO reminded the gathering that sport has no class, caste; creed, language and it develops self discipline.
Stating the importance of forest and wildlife, Sha appealed the gathering to be a responsible person to conserve forest and wildlife.
Citing some examples, DFO informed that many diseases occur in our land due to absence of wildlife and face water scarcity problems for not conserving the forest.
He appealed to the public to conserve forest and wildlife in their respective villages.
Inaugural function was compeered by Kharou and Khune A Pao, welcome song presented by PCYSO, invocation prayer said by D.Thepri Reo pastor Khumai Baptist church, welcome address delivered by President KYSO A.Robert Theo, special song presented by Afii twin brothers, oath taking administered by games and sport secy.
KYSO RK Pozii, declaration of tournament done by chief guest and guest of honour.
After the inaugural session there was an exhibition match between KYSO executives and DEWAK.
Altogether eight teams are participating in the sports meet in football (men), volleyball (men & women) and basketball (men & women) .
