Upgrade of Imphal-Jiri road soon: CM

Chief minister N Biren has said that banks play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and announced that the Imphal-Jiribam road would be upgraded to double lane soon.
Speaking while opening the Jiribam district branch of Manipur State Cooperative Bank Ltd (MSCB) through video conferencing from his Secretariat office here on Thursday, the chief minister urged the banks to support and encourage the entrepreneurs, farmers, weavers, artisans, etc, so as to expand and improve their business.
He lauded the efforts of MSCB towards the development of rural economy and uplifting the lives of the people.
Announcing that Imphal-Jiribam road would become double lane soon, N Biren informed that the state government has received a sum of Rs 480 crore for disbursal of land acquisition compensation.
He also mentioned that the construction of Barak bridge is almost complete and it will be inaugurated next month.
On the occasion, the CM congratulated DC, SP, CMO, doctors, nurses, ASHA workers etc., of Jiribam district on becoming the first district to achieve 100 per cent Covid-19 vaccination for the first dose in the state.
He assured that a cash reward of Rs 20,00,000 will be handed over to the deputy commissioner, Jiribam for the achievement.
The function was also attended by MSCB managing director A Subhash Singh, registrar of Cooperative Societies Valentina Arambam, DC and SP of Jiribam district, officials of RBI, Imphal Branch and MSCB.
Meanwhile, MSCB Jiribam Branch located at Jiribam Municipal Council Complex was physically inaugurated by DC W Malemnganba Chenglei by cutting the ribbon.
