Imphal, September 09 2021:
At least seven organisations have urged all hill based CSOs to withdraw the decision to boycott the Go to Hills 2.0 campaign as the Speaker's order that inducts 9 MLAs into the Hill Areas Committee (HAC) has been withdrawn.
The organisations are Zeliangrong Intellectual Forum Manipur, Zeliangrong Women Front Manipur, Zeliangrong Senior Citizens Association (AMN), Zeliangrong Human Rights Protection Forum, Ex-MDCs Welfare Association Tamenglong District, Kuilong Area Village Authority Council Association and People's Development Vigilance Forum Tamenglong (PDVFT) .
In a joint statement, the organisations said that Go to Hills and other people-friendly initiatives of the BJP led Government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh brought about a healing touch to the people of Manipur both in the hills and the valley.
Saying that the conflict ridden State of Manipur has witnessed a complete change in the last four years and a half, it contended that the infamous economic blockades, bandhs and strikes also seem to have become things of the past.
The statement then urged all to support the second edition of the Go to Hills campaign to bring hill people much closer to the governance of the BJP Government as the order of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker has been revoked.
In a pluralistic society such as Manipur, communal harmony is needed for the State to grow in every aspect, it added.
The organisations also stated that the multi pronged initiative of the BJP Government under N Biren Singh to maintain peace and communal harmony in Manipur have been appreciated by one and all.
Continuing that the people of Tamenglong and Noney districts are earnestly welcoming the Go to Hills 2.0 campaign, it added that the Chief MInister would visit the two districts in the latter part of this month.
The organisations, however, urged the Chief Minister to prepone his visit to these two districts.
