CM stresses role of banks in uplifting people

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has stated that banks play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of schemes through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
He said this while opening Jiribam branch of Manipur State Cooperative Bank Ltd (MSCB) through video conferencing at the Chief Minister's Secretariat today.
Delivering his speech, the Chief Minister urged the banks to support and encourage entrepreneurs, farmers, weavers, artisans etc to expand and improve their business and lauded the MSCB for its efforts to develop the rural economy.
Continuing that the Imphal-Jiribam road would be converted into double lane soon, he added that the State Government has received Rs 480 crore to pay compensation for land acquisition.

He further mentioned that construction of Barak bridge is almost complete and would be inaugurated next month.
At the occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated DC, SP, CMO, doctors, nurses, ASHA workers etc.
of Jiribam district on becoming the first district to inoculate 100 percent of adult population against COVID-19 (first dose) in the State.
He said that a cash reward of Rs 20,00,000 would be handed over to the Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam for the achievement.
The function was also attended by Managing Director, MSCB A Subhash Singh, Registrar of Cooperative Societies Valentina Arambam, DC and SP of Jiribam district, officials of RBI, Imphal and MSCB.
