Land demarcation for widening HH-37 begins

Noney, September 09 2021:
The district administration of Noney along with the officials of NHIDCL has started final demarcation of land in Noney area for widening of NH-37 (Imphal-Jirribarm road) to double lane standard under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
The 220 km-long highway project has been divided into 7 packages, which are Imphal to New Keithelmanbi.
New Keithelmanbi to Kotlen, Kotlen to Khumji village, Khumji to Khongsang, Khongsang to Kambiron, Kambiron to Nungkao and Nungkao to Jiribam.
The works for first three packages (Imphal to Khumji village) have already been awarded to the work agencies concerned.
Awarding of the contract for Package 4 is in the final stage while Packages 5, 6 & 7 are in tender process.
Meanwhile, the maintenance works along this route are being carried out by three different private companies.
The road stretch from 0-75 km and 105-150 km is undertaken by NDS, 75 km-105 km by Continental and 150 km-220 (Jiribam) by Manipur Steel.
According to an NHIDCL official, once the rainy season is over, the blacktopping work will be started in phase manner.
