Security forces nab two NRFM cadres

Imphal, September 09 2021: A combined team of 15 AR and Imphal West district police commando nabbed two cadres of proscribed NRFM on Thursday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Nameirakpam Jotin Meitei alias Kokn-gang alias Thoi alias Phirepa (29) s/o (L) N Basanta Meitei of Kairang Mayai Leikai, currently residing at Langol Laimanai, and Thangjam Santhoi alias 4naoba Meitei (32) s/o Th Nongthon Meitei of Moirangpurel Khunou Leikai currently residing at New Checkon Bazar.

According to a police report, the combined team rounded up Jotin from Langol Laimanai around 10:20 am.

Acting on disclosure of Jotin, the combined team arrested Thangjam Santhoi from New Checkon.

On questioning, Jotin revealed that he joined the outfit in July 2021 through one Chinglakpa and worked under self-styled finance secretary Dabalo alias Nongpoknganba of Nongren village.

Santhoi also revealed that he had been working under Dabalo since 2020.The duo revealed of involvement in serving extortion notes at Moirang and Sawombung areas.

The Security Forces also recovered a Hero Pleasure (MN01U 8839) scooter used by the duo in carrying out extortion.

The arrested persons along with the recovered vehicle and other incriminating articles have been handed over to Lamphel Police station, the report said.
