Two NRFM cadres involved in extortion activities apprehended

Imphal, September 09 2021: Imphal West District Commando personnel arrested two active members of National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) involved in extortion activities from Langol Laimanai and New Checkon Bazar area today morning.

According to the reliable information based on input provided by 15 AR and corroborated from their sources a team of Imphal West Commando under the command of L Amarjeet Additional SP Operation led by Inspector P Sanjoy OC Imphal West Commando and under the overall supervision of Dr S Ibomcha SP Imphal West arrested one cadre of NRFM at around 10.20 am from Langol Laimanai.

The arrested person has been identified as Nameirakpam Jotin Meitei @ Kokngang @ Thoi @ Phirepa (29) of Keirang Mayai Leikai presently staying at Langol Laimanai and from his disclosure another active member of NRFM identified as Thangjam Santhoi @ Inaoba Meitei (32) of Moirangpurel Khunou Leikai, currently staying at New Checkon Bazar was arrested from New Checkon area at around 11.00 am.

On further questioning, Jotin disclosed that he joined the NRFM through an individual named Chinglakpa in the year July 2021and started working for the organization under the command of Self style Finance Secretary Dabalo @ Nongpoknganba of Nongren village, Imphal East.

And Santhoi stated that he started working from 2020 under Self Style Finance Secy Dabalo @ Nongpoknganba.

As per the information received, both of them admitted that they are involved in extortion of money from the general public and delivering of demand letters at Moirang and Sawongbung area on the advice of their commander.

One motor cycle Pleasure bearing registration no.MN01U -8839 which was used in extortion activities and delivering of demand letters and one mobile phone handset were recovered from their possession.

The arrested persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Lamphel PS for further actions.
