Imphal, September 09 2021:
As in other part of the country, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Manipur State organised a 'silent sit-in protest' against rise in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG gas and other essential commodities at Keishampat Mutum Leirak here on Thursday.
In a release, BMS State general secretary K Manda-kini Devi informed that the protest was organised against the failure of state and central governments to control the steep hike in prices as they are hurting citizens of India belonging to working and labour class.
The sit-in was staged to demand the government to stop increasing the prices of petroleum products every day and bring petroleum products under GST, curb increase in prices of essential commodities, take steps to increase production of food items by paying remunerative prices to the farmers, etc.
The government must also make the industries to print the cost of their raw materials on their products, so that consumers can know how much profit they are making.
Moreover, government should stop demonetisation process considering the welfare of employees, it added.
