MPP holds central committee meeting

The central committee of Manipur Peoples Party (MPP) recognised by the Election Commission of India convened a meeting on Thursday at the Oinam multipurpose hall in Bishnupur district.
Presided over by MPP Moirang A/C central committee member Laishram Kumar, the meeting attended by central committee members from different parts of the state unanimously resolved to appoint Bishnupur A/C central committee member Konthoujam Krishnachandra as interim president, and Oinam A/C central committee member Sorenshangbam Brojen and Thongju A/C member advocate Ningombam Ojit as working presidents.
During the meeting, several central committee members recalled that MPP is a political party which formed government three/four times in the past but the party is now facing litmus test for survival.
They also stressed the need for improving relation with the people and work towards regaining, the trust of the people to the party.
Newly appointed interim president Krishnachandra said that the meeting was convened in view of recent tussle within the party, people's outlook towards the party and ECI's restriction after the party remained without functionaries for a long time.
Welcoming his appointment as interim president, Krishnachandra vowed to work for strengthening the party with various policies and programmes.
The meeting later appointed Nambol A/C central committee member Oinam Deven as state returning officer for conducting election for appointment of members to working committee, election committee and disciplinary committee.
